ABOUT US
Owner/ Director: Seth Benzel
Benzel opened 8th Ave. Gallery in February of 2019 as a passion project between father and son. John L. Benzel was a life long painter and architect and shared in possibilities of art and the growth of a creative community. The gallery is dedicated to his life and remembrance while principled in the lessons he bestowed on his youngest son. Through hard work and critique we can all develop the language necessary to speak truth through art.
With these ideals in mind, Seth Benzel has taken his own experience as a full time painter and coupled it with the gallery to create a platform that supports artists through a varied number of projects and activities. Benzel believes that galleries should be more involved in not only developing artists but also potential collectors, and art lovers alike.
“ The gallery experience should be inclusive not exclusive. Art has a unlimited potential and should be shared and celebrated at all levels of those active in its pursuit.”
Gallery Manager: Justin Alsedek
Since joining the gallery in March of 2021 Justin’s enthusiasm and love for his craft has propelled the gallery’s local presence to a community leader through intriguing exhibitions and new live concepts. Alsedek, an accomplished painter himself, works in one of our three studios which allows visitors the opportunity not just to enjoy ongoing exhibitions but to also experience the studio of a working artist. This has become a cornerstone idea for the gallery, to open up the process of art in the hopes of connecting with collectors and visitors alike.
